PFCCS Provider Course

The Medical Simulation Center organized a Pediatric Fundamental Critical Care Support Provider Course on May 20-21 with participation of 12 OMSB Residents and 6 trainers in pediatrics from SQUH and Royal Hospital.  The course aimed to improve the critical care delivered to sick children by providing the doctors with the skills and knowledge required.

One the first day of the course there were several lectures on the topic of PFCCS such as: Assessment of Critically Ill, Diagnosis and Management of Respiratory Failure and Mechanical Ventilation. The course included skill stations as well group discussion . Some of these skill stations include: Respiratory Evaluation and Management,    Cardiovascular Evaluation & Management of Shock and Post – opt care. The skill stations were continued on the second day of the course with other  subjects such as: Sedation, Analgesia and Pharmacologic Management, Transport of Critically Ill Child and Invasive device evaluation and potential complications.
